For my ancestory project I photographed my Grandma. I wanted to take a photograph that captured her wisdom and beauty. I chose to use a black and white filter to give the photo a more nostalgic feel. I had her pose outside so I could use natural light to best capture her in detail. I like how this photo turned out and enjoyed this project because I got to visit with my grandma.
For this project I took my photos at my cabin in whistler rather than at my house. Whistler is my second home and I was able to take some pretty pictures there. I took this photo from birds eye view looking down from the peak to peak gondola. I like this one because it makes you look twice to figure out exactly what is going on. My brother let me borrow his camera to take this photo. I used at 30 second shitter speed so everything is very detailed and you can even see a few stars in the sky. When I think of Whistler, I think of cold weather. I tried to capture that feeling in this photo by the use of the icicles and the snow on all of the trees. I really liked this one because of the reflection of the trees on the pool. It's very surreal having a pool right next to a mountain. It's not something you associate with a pool which makes it more interesting. Where you live is not just about the scenery, but also the people around you. For me, it's family and little kids running around everywhere. During this time I was babysitting my two nieces and two nephews who were being very hyper. I feel others can connect with this photo because it symbolizes the care free and fun loving attitude of kids. this was on the drive down from Whistler. There are places along the highway that are very beatiful, but also places like this with slush on the road that makes it look a lot more sad. Whenever I leave Whistler I am never happy and I feel this photo symbolizes what I see when driving back to North Vancouver. I love this one because of the sky. It looks very calm and beautiful. I feel it really highlights Whistlers amazing landscape.
This project really helped me experiment with different types of lighting. For the light burst photo, I had to take it in a few location before I found somewhere that worked well. How you focus the camera is key for the different types of light. The burst photo u had to tap on the screen and have it focus farther away from the light. For the silhouette, it worst best to tap right around the subject you were photographing. For the self portrait one, you could not do much to change the light as it auto focuses itself when it takes the photo.
For this project I took the photos over two separate days. The 1st and last one I shot together and then the 2nd I shot when I was with my niece at the pumpkin patch. I like the photos because of the variety in landscapes. One by the water, one in a field and one in the city. The challenge was being able to find an area with big open space and no people. I like how they turned out and how they all have a different feel to them.
My favourite type of photo to take is action photos. They are always the most fun and sometimes the most challenging. You are able to capture crazy moments in one shot. I want to learn cool ways to create actions photos with different shutter speeds. I would also like to learn how to create different lighting and focal points in action shots.
When I went out to take this photo their was only misting rain falling down. However, on plants the water was forming into droplets. I looked around and found this plant which I liked because it was somewhat repetitive with the leaves. I took a lot of photos and really liked the angle I got with this shot. I wish I could have got one with droplets falling but given the circumstances I am happy with my result.
